Tylanna Desqen and her mother died on the same day.
Tylanna, however, came back. Now she lives a quiet life with her twin brother, Tahnir, and their father in the idyllic village of Shae Glen. There she studies to follow in her mother's footsteps as the village healer.
But everything changes when Those Who Serve arrive. The deranged cult seeks anyone who may have come from the Sky Islands of Helanái, islands that have flown above the land of Artani for all of recorded history.
When Those Who Serve find what they are looking for, they also find a village that is willing to fight to protect their own. After the chaos of the invasion, Tylanna, her brother, and her friend Akiye are sent away to seek refuge in the Sky Islands of Helanái. But along the way they find that the world is not as the young travelers heard of in the fanciful stories their parents told them.
Danger, friends, and foes await the young trio as they set out into a world full of magic, mayhem, and vengeance.
