When Chris, at the age of 40 years, very suddenly lost his sight, he thought that his world had come to an end. He questioned how he would make his dreams a reality and how he could beat sight loss. When he heard about the 19th century, blind explorer, James Holman, he became curious. After much contemplation, a whole lot of patience and bucket loads of sheer determination, he came up with a crazy plan. He would traverse the same route as Holman's first expedition did and make a comparison between modern day travel and a journey of the past.
