"I have had an extraordinary life, and I continue to do so today, but it is from a far different vantage point-a position of much greater dependency. So I wanted to write about it, to share with others not only the experience of aging, but everything that comes with it-the highs and the lows, the insights and the anger, the rewards and the burdens. While there is a tendency to feel helpless and hopeless in this situation after such a rich life experience, I want to provide something uplifting, to make people feel better. Because it is, in fact, another chapter in living, and many of us can expect to live much longer."
