Still Climbing

About Still Climbing

"Still Climbing" is a biography covering the long, fulfilling, life of Betty Phipps Roberts. The book is unique as it is non-fictional but contains thirteen short stories which are fiction, written over a span of forty-plus years. From early childhood Betty wanted to be a writer but financial necessity and a large family required her to spend a lifetime as a Registered Nurse. After graduation from the University of Virginia School of Nursing, she eventually was licensed in six states as she followed her husbands when they made career changes. Betty never gave up the ambition to write and she attended classes in Creative writing, English, History and other subjects not offered in Nursing school, at the University of Alabama both in Huntsville and in Tuscaloosa as well as writer''s workshops whenever they were available. After retiring from Nursing, Betty pursued oil painting as a hobby, taking classes from the more prominent artists in her hometown.
