Once Adam has completed his training to become a knight (or Nasi, as such things are called on the planet Gannah), he will be heir to the throne. Or that's what he thinks, until he stumbles upon a village of Old Gannahan survivors. Hard to believe, because they were thought to have all died in the plague decades earlier. Worst yet, it seems one of them is the rightful ruler, not Adam's mother as everyone had believed.
What's to be done? Plenty, as it turns out. Almost more than Adam has the time, energy, and stomach for, as he is assigned the task of bringing the Old Gannahans thousands of kilometers to join the New Gannahans at their settlement.
