The Little Book of Celtic Music

About The Little Book of Celtic Music

The fourth volume in the Tunebook Series, a series of quality and affordable Irish- and Celtic-themed music books. The first three volumes covered Irish Tunes, Irish Songs and Tunes for the Tin Whistle. The tunes and songs in this volume have been selected from the Celtic musical traditions of Ireland, Scotland and Brittany, and include both old favourites and lesser-known and harder to find melodies. The tunes are presented in simple and easy-to-read format, arranged for guitar and instrument/voice, with individual or group practice specifically in mind. An indication of tempo is given for each tune - this is to be seen as just that, an indication or a general rule, and not an absolute direction! In practice, many Irish tunes can be played faster or slower - this will depend on the musicians' individual musical styles and tastes. A basic guitar chord sheet is given on page 4 - this too is to be seen as a starting-point, as different voicings and chord-shapes can also be used. Whether you're a student, a teacher or a professional musician, you are encouraged to delve into the melodies in this collection, adapt them, make them your own, in the way that is unique to Irish and Celtic music. This collection represents the seed, that you will nurture to blossom in the way done by countless musicians, be they from Ireland or elsewhere, for the past two hundred years.
