The Overland Campaign

Grant's 1864 campaign to bring the war to an end employed an aggressive strategy to bring relentless pressure on Confederate forces in Virginia, the Shenandoah Valley, and Georgia. Grant's efforts to destroy Lee's army in Virginia in a series of brutal battles fell short, but the campaign ultimately marked the beginning of the Confederacy's end.
