The World Shaker

Deep beneath the rich soil of the Fringe, an underground society of Cave-Dwellers reside in houses of sand and rock, their caverns illuminated with dwindling light. This flickering light is currency, and those who run out are doomed to face the darkness and its strange inhabitants-creatures of blood and bone who plague the corners of the caves like a rancid disease. Young Anya of the Cave-Dwellers is probably the only girl foolish enough to get caught by the Cave Elders for stealing light. As a punishment for her crime, she is sent above ground on an expendable, ancient quest-she is to seek out the Lucents, people of light and magic who may know of a way to heal the blistering, crumbling cavern. Whispers of a strange vigilante known as the World Shaker saturate the outside world. This hooded vigilante promises change, and when Anya travels above ground, she finds herself at the center of a falling empire, whispered prophecies, and dangerous entities, all surrounding the cloaked World Shaker. Aided by the boy Jay with mysteries of his own, Anya must rise with the dawn and discover the truth of the World Shaker before darkness falls and the Fringe is cloaked once more. . .
