This White House

This White House is the first in an utterly unique series of three books from Gabriel Orion Marie that tell the story of her amazing recovery from extreme and horrific physical, sexual, emotional, and spiritual abuse. Her drawings and paintings are powerful and deeply moving. Her words expound magnificently on the images. The offer courage to other survivors of abuse/violence and are already being used by some therapists and students of psychology because they provide a vivid and unique inside view into the heart of a broken and healed woman.

The themes in presented in This White House introduce you to Gabriel's life and the early years of abuse, which include being sold by her father as a child prostitute and being used for child pornography. She takes you into her experience of becoming many selves and the resulting anguish of insanity. You will quickly come to love this child/woman and will want to follow her through to her recovery after you have been privy to what this books reveals.

As part of honoring the YWCA Annual Week Without Violence Campaign, a selection of Gabriel Orion Marie's paintings were displayed in an exhibit entitled "Strength from Brokenness" in Kampen, Netherlands in Nov 27-Dec 13 2012. She is a featured artist with the foundation Art out of Violence in the Netherlands (kunstuitgeweld.nl).

A number of the Author's paintings have been used in presentations promoting sexual abuse awareness at the Awakenings Foundation in Chicago, Illinois - a foundation created to help victims of violence who have used art as a path for recovery. She will have an exhibit at the Awakenings Foundation Gallery in October of 2013.

About This Series

There are many themes in the areas of wounding and healing from sexual abuse, incest, and torture, and for my books, I have chosen themes that were most prominent in my journey. I created over 325 paintings and drawings during several years of my therapy and have arranged selections of them by themes for chapters. I tried to choose paintings in each topic that I felt would communicate best what I am trying to share.
