Garsh is on the Brink of civil war, her famed legions beginning to take sides, as the Dynastics vye with the wealthy Estate Owners for power. Even the Bachians, feared pirates of the Circle Sea, are uncertain, their king seemingly in thrall to some cult and their ancient prophecy. At the heart of this uncertain world sits Kel, a small fishing village on the northern most of the two Hanokan isles. On the outskirts of this small village sits a lone house. Home to Kashmila, a dedicated wife and mother, and Mihas, her husband, an introverted, hard working man of the sea. Their son Tarius is a troubled boy, prone to dark bouts of depression. Seemingly cursed with his mother's gift, he too is an outcast, shunned by the community and rejected by his peers. This is the environment Tarius grows up in, only escaping the prison of his childhood by becoming old enough to work at sea with his father. Tarius thrives in this new environment until one fateful day an encounter at sea forces him to make a difficult decision. A decision that tears him away from all that is familiar and launches him on an incredible journey, a journey that is complicated by the ever-present threat of war, stalked by the long shadow of an ancient prophecy and also seemingly shadowed by a shady secret society, whose tendrils seem to dog his every step. His adventures spark unforeseen consequences, not just for him but for his family, for the Hanokan Isles and for the Circlelands at large. Travel with Tarius as he fights to stave off his old enemy, depression, whilst trying to make sense of a world that is completely alien to him.
