About Growing Up In The Greatest Generation
The greatest generation will always be one of the most interesting times in American history. Why was this true? I had the privilege to be born in this period in beautiful historical Bucks County, Pennsylvania. I write this book as I saw it as a young boy. I was blessed with a good memory and an interest in all the things happening around me growing up in a small community, but a very unusual community during the Second World War. I will share in this book the people, our lives, how we lived, worked, played, and fought a war that affected and consumed us in everything we did. If you like nostalgia, which includes the Second World War, you will see it from a young boys view, which will include many things you probably never knew or thought aboutfrom the customs and people in a Pennsylvania Dutch community to a German American Bund camp that I had personal contact with; my familys involvement in the war; our small communitys impact with lives given; sacrifices made; the number of generals from a population of 2,500 people; and probably the largest gauge plant in America.I will relate the fears and joys as a young boy from the air-raid drills, the holiday customs, our education, medical practices, family life, respect for adults and country, and spiritual impact at that time. There is a different world to be seen through the eyes of a child that is lost when we become adults. I believe I have captured that different world.
